DapurSiGembil: Schotel Time!

Salam Readers,

One afternoon in Syawal 1435 Hijriyah, no one ate for lunch since Syawal Fasting has just started in GembilGembul's house. Gembul has started his office hour, meanwhile Gembil hasn't meet employee responsibilities yet. What a free life for more than a week! Hihihiii.. :D

So, this was what happened yesterday in DapurSiGembil when no office to dos should be done.

A little mess-up to remind many recipes that had been forgotten since Gembil had started her office working.

And those mess-up in DapurSiGembil turn to these beautiful delicacy! Tadaaa!
Macaroni Schotel for Syawal Break-fasting.

Because the mixture was still left little behind, then Gembil tried to make a little creation to bake it and be feasible to eat. Here comes our Dorayaki Schotel!

What should you do? Here's a contekan from web sajiansedap.com that Gembil took as a reference.

Some useful tips in Schotel Time:
1. You may change smoked beef to sausage, chicken or beef.
2. Moreover, if you want to make somehow a little bit healthy, then you can add choped vegetables, such as carrot, broccoli, or even spinach. All you have to do is just chopped the vegetables into the smallest pieces. If you do this, besides adding color for your schotel, the vegetables also give extra taste in it. In my schotel case, Gembil added 1 pcs of carrot.
3. Play with your seasoning and spices. Don't be afraid to add extra salt, pepper, or even the nutmeg powder if you want to feel the extra strong taste.
4. Pour the nutmeg powder, just a pinch, inside your oven after you put you schotel pan inside it. This will give extra flavour to your schotel.
5. You can use both cheddar or parmessan cheese, and for the topping, your schotel will be more delicious if you use quickmelt cheese. For this kind of cheese, mozarella is better! :D
6. Get an extra experiment to get shape of your schotel. If you're bored with square glass pan to bake your schotel then you can change to bake it in snack maker, like I did with my Dorayaki Schotel. Just pay attention to heat, different pan will take different time to bake until it is ready to serve.

Have a try and happy cooking! ^^v

Mulak Tu Huta: Journey of Exciting North Sumatera

H oraaas! :D Mulak tu huta in Mandailing language has a meaning of going back to kampong. ;) Rather be late than not at all, it’s been a past story actually, but I love to make a post about Gembil’s trip and family last year Lebaran holiday when we went to North Sumatera. This is a hometown of Gembil’s mother. This trip had become Gembil’s chance of getting closer to know the origin of my mother. Fun! We had a chance to visit Danau Toba, one of the biggest lakes in Indonesia with its uniqueness, the island of Samosir in the middle of it. Also, a chance to go to the real kampong where my great grandfather came from, since my mom grew up in Medan, and she seldom went back to her truly kampong so she also knew only a little about her kampong. My mom is Siregar, because my grandfather is Siregar, unfortunately, I don’t have this clan name, I can’t inherit it cause my father is not a Bataknese. That’s why I lost this clan name, because clan name in Batak people is received through...

Celebration of Love: Part 1 (The Reception Party)

Salam, As we had promised, this time we'll post the story behind our BIG DAY! First part will tell you the story behind our BIG reception party. The definition of BIG this time is literally BIG, first reason is because both of our family backgrounds are truly BIG families, 2nd reason is this is the first BIG DAY for both of us as we are the first children from our family. So, the 'show', of course, was held with BIG preparation. January 19, 2013, was chosen as our BIG day, exactly 6 years ago we were committed to have a relationship. Such a long journey! Also such a heavy decision for Gembul to pick me as his bride! ;p To choose the vendor of wedding organizer was not an easy job, first vendor was suggested by my mother-in-law. Unfortunately, it was not like what we had expected, so we changed the vendor just 3 months before the BIG 'show'. A little bit in a rush and hectic situation within those months, because we have to go back and forth to the vendor to m...
